About

I'm learning Japanese, just for fun. I'm probably somewhere at lower-intermediate level, and trying different methods to push through the "intermediate grind". My thought is that posting things I'm learning will help me remember stuff better. My example sentences mostly come from the Tanaka Corpus.

Here are some apps and websites that I've found useful:

Human Japanese / Human Japanese Intermediate (Android)

Japanese lessons presented in a conversational tone, with heaps of useful vocab and recordings of male and female native speakers. At around AU$11, it's one of the more expensive apps, but the content is well worth it.

Kotoba-chan (Android)

Basically a multi-choice vocabulary builder. The words can be broken down into lists, e.g. JLPT levels or Mainichi shimbun frequency.

Anki Aniki (Android)

Spaced repetition training to help you learn kanji, 5+ per day.

Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese (Website)

Learn Japanese online for free.
Also available as an Android app.

Maggie Sensei (Website)

Maggie, and her human Yukari teach conversational Japanese together! A cute and fun-filled blog with lots of indexed previous lessons to choose from.

まるです。 (Website)

Because who doesn't like pictures of cats? Especially when they have captions in Japanese.
